Our Story: How I Got Started
Our story began in 2011 with a love for photographing weddings. When I was hired to photograph a rather large wedding at an elaborate venue, I stood in awe, quietly watching the planner as she navigated even the most difficult situations. I felt a strong tug in my heart to move from capturing the moments to creating them. When I moved to the Alabama Gulf Coast in 2013, that passion began to grow and I knew that I had big things in store.
I starting Cortes Weddings & Events in August 2014 and began serving couples on and off throughout the years. From 2019 to 2025, you may have seen me working alongside other event professionals, gaining valuable experience and a deeper understanding of what goes on behind the scenes to create a successful celebration. I am extremely grateful for those opportunities and wholeheartedly support those businesses who gave me the chance to learn, grow, and encouraged me to step into this new season of my life.
I unfortunately had to step away from the industry in April 2025 to care for my mom. She unexpectedly passed away in February 2026. Since her passing, I am finding myself longing to get back into the industry. My mom was such a huge part of my life and supported me in my career, often helping me behind the scenes with weddings. I am so grateful that I got to spend 9 months caring for her in what I never expected to be her final days on this earth, but the Lord knew exactly what He was doing.
This new chapter has given me an opportunity to reimagine my business and bring together the things I love most- creating beautiful experiences and events for others. Cortes Event Co. is more than a business to me. It's a return of something I take great pride in. It's a fresh vision and a desire to serve each client with intention. Whether you need help planning from the very beginning, someone to take the reins on your wedding day, or assistance bringing your design vision to life, my goal is simple: to make your celebration beautiful, organized, and genuinely enjoyable.
